Keepers of a Perfect Record
Every autumn, once the last unbeaten team in the NFL finally loses, a small group of old Miami Dolphins reportedly raises a glass. The 1972 Dolphins went 14-0, then 3-0 in the playoffs, for a 17-0 season that has never been matched — and they have spent half a century guarding it. We built 16-0 in that same spirit: as keepers of a record we think football never stops mythologizing.
Because there is really only one number like it. From 1978 through 2020 the league ran a 16-game regular season — 43 winters of it — and exactly one team walked out the far side without a loss. The 2007 New England Patriots went 16-0, scored a then-record 589 points, and carried an 18-0 mark into Super Bowl XLII before a helmet catch and three points ended the dream at 18-1. Perfect regular season; imperfect ending. That ache is exactly why 16-0 endures as the game’s most sacred, most argued-over number.
We are not statisticians and we are not a league office. We are people who grew up on grainy highlight reels and slow-motion legend, and we wanted to hand that feeling to anyone with a browser. So we made a game about the chase itself: spin for a decade, draft nine legends — one for every position, offense and defense — and see whether your roster can survive all sixteen Sundays the way only one real team ever has. No playoff bracket, no shortcuts. Sixteen wins, zero losses, or the streak dies like all the others. That purity is the whole point; the fuller gauntlet lives at our companion game, 20-0.online. Here, we keep the flame for the perfect regular season — and dare you to light your own.
